Finally…The Last Starfighter video game

For anyone who remembers the 80’s movie the Last Starfighter you will know that the movie was based on a kid playing a video game. It is every geeks dream that their video game skills would be needed to save the galaxy and that was exactly what this movie was about. Unfortunately and for some strange reason the game from the movie was never actually released. Well that is until now. That’s right you can go here and download the game. Yeah I know. You don’t have to say it……

Bose makes stereos right?

Well yes they do. Some of the best in the world. What you may not realize is that they also have been developing a state of the art automobile suspension system. It’s hard to explain how truly amazing the system is. It’s better to just see it in action here. It uses linear electromagnetic motors instead of the now old fashioned gas cartridge. You can read all the details here. I can’t wait to drive a vehicle with this system.

Microsoft unveils “Surface”

Microsoft has released information today regarding their latest development. It’s basically a coffee table with a built-in PC but there is a bit more to it. This coffee table has no keyboard or mouse. You use your fingers to move and interact with the interface. You can check out a video and more information on it here. I really love how you can set a device such as a digital camera on the table and it will, via bluetooth or wifi, download information from it. You can then just move the information with your fingers into another device on the surface. How cool. I must get in line for one of these uber cool technology changing machines.

Update: Here is another link with more detailed information on what makes Surface work.

Star Wars movie via Telnet???

A friend of mine sent me this address of the entire Star Wars movie done via telnet. I can’t think of anything much more geeky than this. Certainly someone needs a new hobby. It is actually well done and of course extremely unique. Just type “telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl” in your run box or at a command prompt. Enjoy the show and don’t forget the popcorn.

Yep…Researchers have begun drug testing on spiders to see what effects they will have. This is a very well done video of the study and it’s effects. It is also very humorous. Please be warned that parental guidance (due to language) is suggested. Enjoy!
